  • 1 can 14.75 oz wild-caught salmon, drained
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs optional for extra texture
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the drained salmon, cornmeal, breadcrumbs (if using), beaten egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  • Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 6-8 portions and shape them into round, flat patties.
  • Heat the Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the Patties: Place the patties in the hot skillet, ensuring they’re not overcrowded. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
